Dec.30

I have come to realize we are starting a new year soon. A new year without my grandmother, the one who kept us all grounded and helped us keep our life in order. As we cleaned out her closet we realized how many new clothes she had that she never even touched! To her those were just things, plain and simple. We laughed at how many new night gowns she left behind and how she would always wear the same worn out night gowns to sleep in. She had tons of shoes that we are all walking around in now and she never once wore them. Again I say to HER those things were just that, THINGS, In this coming new year I pray to the lord that he may guide me and help me keep my life as simple as possible so that I too may value the true meaning of life and happiness. To her that meant always having an open door to her home for anyone who needed it or a plate of  food if they were hungry or listening to people if they needed to talk and telling them it will work out. My grandmother had a rough life, full of adversity, but she was never sour about it. It is what it is she would say, no use in crying over things, the lord knows what he is doing and why. I will strive to be as humble as she was, as loving as she was and as strong as she was.

Dec. 12th.

I have spent the last week studying for my math final, writing the last papers for english and communications. It's starting to wear on me but I am almost done. I hate the end of the semester, it seems like just when you are getting to know everyone in your classes, it is time to see them go. I had a class full of teenagers (16-17 years old) they are all part of the ACE program, it was cool having them in my class, I felt like their mommy at times. I am really going to miss them and I am really impressed by all that they have acheived so far in their youg lives. It makes me want to push harder. Now I cross my fingers for my math final!

December 8th.

Oh My! Finals coming up next week! I never in a million years thought I would be saying those words, strangely enough I am excited and happy that I am going through all of this. I think it is perfect timing too. If I would have had to do this when I was younger I would not appreciate school as much. Right now I know how hard teachers work and how they love doing what they do, therefore they have my full attention when they speak. Give them a big thank you at the end of the semester I'm sure they don't hea it enough! Thank you Lord for all of the people who have cared enough to help me through this journey!

First day of Nana Fidelia's traditional 9 day rosary

Nana Fidelia C. Ayala, She passed away in May of this year but she lives in our hearts,  aunt pili had to continue her tradition, it starts on Dec. 3rd. and ends on Dec. 12th., on this day mexico celebrates el dia de La Virgen De Guadalupe in which they honor the virgin mary. We were never allowed to decorate for Christmas until this day passed. We can feel her loss in many ways, I find myself asking why I didnt write down her recipes or write down every story she ever told me. It's funny how I lived with her every day of my life and I didn't take the time, I guess I thought she would be here longer. We will never forget everything she taught us, I just wish I could hear that loud and unique voice of hers telling us what to do.

2007 Family Pics

There will be pictures of my family here also, for my new blog.

December 3rd.

Here we are in December of 2010. I can hardly believe it is time to prepare for finals in between work, kids, housework and trying to maintain my fresh look lol. Some of you may know that last year I stumbled my way back to school somehow, maybe it was the slow economy, maybe it was my inner self crying out for more, I don't know but I did, I ended up signing up at gateway community college and I have to say I am truly enjoying every minute of it, crazy huh! For anyone who knows me well ,I have been happy doing hair and nails for the past fifteen years, it has been a blast but it is time for me to move forward into a new adventure. I have been fortunate to have people cross my path in life, that have helped me on this new journey. I have to say thank you to the staff at gateway, they are great!

"El Transformador"

It is said that "El Transformador" first appeared in Mexico many years ago. There was a girl (name unknown) who desperately wanted to go to the town's annual fiesta, the only thing was, that her mother was really ill and she begged her daughter not to go and leave her all alone. The girl ignored her mothers plea and got dressed and fled with her friends anyway. The girls were so excited to be there dancing the night away, that's when she noticed him, nobody knew who he was but he was really handsome and to her disbelief he asked her to dance. She danced and danced with this man, she felt so happy and she could feel people's eyes burning with jealousy. The girl felt as if she was floating on air so just to check she looked down. That's when she noticed! He wasn't so perfect after all, he had one pig foot and one chicken foot! She started to scream and as she ran away there was a potent smell of sulfur that made every one's eyes burn. Other people noticed the mans feet as they ran in total shock. The girl's friends could not find her, they looked everywhere, finally they went to her house, only to find her dead mother. The girl was never seen again. That is how the "El Transformador" sub-culture got started. Witnesses tried to tell the story of the man with one pig foot and one chicken foot and the abundant smell that followed. The town's people thought they were just crazy. Desperate to prove that they were not crazy, a few of these people started a secret ritual every year to try to prove that he was real. Every year on the 6th. of June, at 6:00 a.m. they bring forth someone who is worthy of a lesson from "El Transformador". They begin at midnight and they dress in black, making sure to cover their face, around their necks they wear necklaces with one pig foot and one chicken foot hanging from them. If he doesn't come then they have to finish the sacrifice themselves and offer that sacrifice to "El Transformador" in order to save themselves. There have been reports of that same, intense smell but not a sighting. Some people say that he comes in different forms, he is never the same, that is why they have never seen that particular man again. He came in the form of the girls dream, he was who she wanted him to be: tall, dark, and handsome. Others have been known to kill for revenge in the name of "El Transformador". There was a man who had a beautiful family, he and his wife had five girls. On one horrific day his oldest daughter was raped and murdered, he set out to find her killer and when he found him he tortured him to death. The police came for the father and all he said was that the spirit of "El Transformador" told him where to find his daughters killer, and exactly how to kill him. Many people worship "El Transformador" and pray to him when they are in need of some justice. They believe that he helps make the world a better place by coming after those who do wrong in his eyes. They named him "El Transformador" because you never know how or what he will appear as. "El Transformador" ("The Transformer").
